and the top of the wing...temporary lash up reallyuntil I can get it welded properly. Frightened to weld that close to the edge of what is otherwise a pretty good wing

Out in the sun Doesn't look too bad, the colour isn't quite right but better than looks at rusty scabs!

The other side This side is in better nick but has more work to do. The door is quite bad at the bottom, lots of scabs and the wheel arch is a little out of shape (had some damage at some time) but nothing a heavy hammer wont put right.(it's just the lip)

my top tip for a quickie hole repair is self adhesive ally tape. Treat the rust, then bridge the hole with the ally tape, pushing it into the hole to take filler. Then fill, sand and paint as normal. Easier to work with than glass and just as effective.

Actually I use alunmium mesh, loaded with plop and pushed into the hole from behind. Otherwise same as you describe.

the tape is good if you dont have access to the back of the panel.

Funny how it goes. I thought the passeneger door would be a major problem as it looked as if it had a rusty split right along the bottom,,,No, cleaned off all the old plop and there are three VERY small holes and the door is otherwise sound! Cleaned off the stonechip too, never like to see that on a vehicle...looked like it was hiding something (and wasn't).
So the passenger side is coming on quite well, except for the hole in the bottom of the cill. Pictures later
