This kind of resurrects an old thread from when I first signed on here sorry...
After much waiting for an original 4 speed OD box to arrive, then much more waiting, oh and waiting a bit more, I think it's becoming a little obvious the chap who said I can have the box and parts isn't going to deliver.
I also know the much recommended way to better motorway driving with a 5 speed box is the MT75 but I simply can't get hold of everything I'd need and I'm not over keen on cutting the floor.
Today I have been messaged by a chap on BuySellCortina who says he has a Transit Type 9 available that was once connected to a 2.0 pinto in a mk3, and he's fairly local to me being just 30 miles or so away. Can I get some advice on the following thoughts please?
* Bellhousing will be fine? * I'd need to source a crossmember, but will still possibly have to modify it to fit. If so, in what way? * Prop I have at the moment probably wrong so will need a prop? * Speedo cable drive will be OK? * Clutch itself will get replaced while there but what about the clutch cable?
I've done Cortina 4sp to T9 conversions before so feel free to be specific.
Thanks.

personally I wouldn't. The type9 is fine in a tina but pants in a transit. The new hole for the MT75 is not worth worrying about. We have several MTs and its worth it. Weld up the hole if you must and fill in the gap in the mat. Bare in mind the type9s are all over 20 years old now so unless you get one thats been FULLY reconned as new they dont have a long life ahead of em as it is. We are about to change Alex's first MT, it was fitted 2nd hand over a decade ago and she has towed, done thousands of motorway miles and been a daily driver. No contest, MT75 every time!

I understand Fred, and as it's the recommended way from the people in the know it would be my preference. However there's a big issue for me here in the NW knowing and getting all the parts I'd need. If I was more local to the likes of yourself, Muttley etc I could probably get first hand advice and help easier. Parts might be easier to source too.

you best bet (budget allowing) is to get a whole donor. That way you would have the front prop and crossmember.
