Its more usual for it to happen the other way around at present, good panel vans are few and far between.

Welcome mate. I have to agree with corktina, home converting any Mk1 panel van today will devalue it. There are plenty of campers on the market, and at this time of year prices are good. If you add up the cost of materials and cost in your time, you could get a reasonable camper for what it would cost you to convert. Unless you are going for just a basic bed/ cooker/windows arrangement, and the windows alone some would say ruin a panel van. The DVLA want to see a bed/seat, storage, a cooker and onboard water, also a table. The seats can covert to a bed and the table can be removable but fittings must be fixed. Gas pipes and fittings should have a safety cert, but Gas Safe installers wont do it so dont know where you are supposed to get one. The only advantages I can see of changing the V5 is for the insurance company. You will be able to have a class 4 MOT for the van, but if its a LWB on a class 7 test now please reconsider! What van have you got?

I don't have a van yet, I've been looking and all I can find is panel vans. I personally prefer vans with pop top that a caravan on the back of a pickup. If anyone knows of any for sale please let me know.
