Hi all, My twin wheel mk2 is fitted with 195x14 tyres, which are all perished so I'm going to buy new ones. My tyre fitter says my van should have 185x14 as the 195's on the rear axle can touch under load. I'd rather keep the 195's for the taller profile, any comments/advice welcome.

Jas I'm running 195's on my tipper and often am at the 3450-3500 limit with sand and ballast. Tyres don't touch at all . They are un branded budget van tyres about £45-50 each

195 is fine, my Mk2 spec lift has them , Fred's Mk1 beavertail has 205's

Didn't someone come up with some imperal sized commercial tyres to up the gear ratio on a twin wheeler on the other forum - sparked about a 10 page discussion about mixing crossply's and radials, before it was pointed out they were radials just marked up imperially?

195 is fine, my Mk2 spec lift has them , Fred's Mk1 beavertail has 205's Id love 205s. Wonder if they rub under weight?

No, normal 80 profile, does wonders for yer gearing

Shouldn't make the slightest bit of difference unless you mix them on an axle, some newish vehicles run different profiles back and front as standard.

It was only because I had grief with my 2003 mk6 dropside 350. On the near side door pillar there is the factory sticker stating the weights and tyre sizes and Apparantly the sticker must be obeyed.

Back in the day, we used to run 6.00 14 front tyres (crossplies) on the front and 6.70 14 on the rear, gave a couple more mph out of the old box van V4 mk1's

Why is that? I get the bigger tyres on the drive axle, but why doesn't the same size all round make any difference?
