Hi all
What year/model did the lwb twin wheel Transit go from 14" wheels to 15" wheels and from 15" to 16" ? Is the PCD on the 6stud the same?

Wasn't 15" on the mk5's (so 94 on) and 16" on the mk6 on (2000 on)?

I would agree with that, not that I looked that close...

Is it to try and up the gearing?

Yes to up the gearing. Wanted to swap the axle for another MK2 one with a 4.63 gearset, but they seem very rare. So, alternative is swap to a later axle with a better gearset and go larger on the wheel size so I can fit bigger front brakes as well as they are also crap. We have been using it all summer and now have a list of improvements to do during the winter. The current 5.83 gearset is just painful. Thanks for the advice. Jason

1992 on a J, MK4 had 15", not a straight fit onto MK2 though, the wheels have shouldered nuts and have bigger holes in them. You would need to change all the studs ( pig of a job) I did it on a MK3 and it wasn't worth the effort

I don't think the 4.63 are that rare, have you tried Ralph?

4.63 CWP's from later Transits can be made to fit. Just need to redrill the pinion flange where the propshaft connects to it. I have a mint 4.63 CWP here, but postage to the UK would probably be £80 or £90 I don't think they are as rare as some people claim.

I'm going a different route with my mk2 with the same axle. Looking to fit an overdrive gearbox.
Although I have to say I find my brakes pretty good tbh.

Yeah what's up with your brakes? Just had a new master on the big un and peeling meself off the windscreen now. I suspect something's on it's way out but going gradually so you don't realise it. BTW the big luton's got a Mk3 system, fitted 10 years ago when we got her.

Brakes are vague at best. So far had new mastercylinder, servo, wheel cylinders, brake shoes and calipers and you can still stand on the pedal as hard as you like with minimal slowing down. Axle wise I'm already running an overdrive box just to get 50mph. Touched 58mph once but though the world was about to end the noise was so bad ! Jas
