Firstly a bit of background, I picked this 1983 mk2 Dormobile up August 2015 from a popular auction site! It had been stored in a farmers barn since 1998 and was now forsale by his wife. They originally had a mk1 Dormobile that had deteriorated beyond repair and so in 1983 he purchased a brand new mk2 panel van from a local dealer in primer grey. This was, along with the mk1 delivered to a local coachworks where it was painted, and the mk1 stripped and all items transferred onto the mk2. The story goes that he only ever spent one night in the van, but it was more used for day trips and for visiting various agricultural shows, clocking up 77k Miles by 1998, when it was parked in his farms outbuilding and forgotten. Some photos: When we went to view the van, this was how we found it, wrapped up in various tarps, i thought at the very worse it would make a good donor van. Covers off, it didnt look as bad,
Since i purchased it in August, i never had anytime to get near it, so it has been sat outside in my yard all winter, this weekend however i managed to clear space in a unit i share, and got a start made s3.photobucket.com/user/joda_2k/media/IMG_2105_zpsdisrylg0.jpg.html?sort=3&o=7

Isn't that a Canterbury conversion? Like Muttley said, shouldn't that be a T reg?

Turns out it is 1982 not 1979, my other mk2 is a 79 hence the confusion!!
Fred, Im sure its a Dormobile conversion as the furniture is the same as the Dormobile VW's, Wardrobe handles etc, i do not think they done a mk2 but because it was all swapped off a mk1 its somewhat unique

We have a Mk1, which was reverted to a van after being a pop top. The units are exactly the same. The conversion plate in the passenger footwell says Canterbury.

Our Mk1 had a hinged pop top. Also, the same sun visor/roof rack that blended with the roof. I don't remember any roof windows though.

Got another few hours on the van lastnight. My mate convinced me to use these Dollies he had made up for a morris minor so that we can shift it about and its a better height for working, a bit of modification was required however. How do you lift a van 2.5Ft in the air? the bumper irons and an engine hoist! Front end up Back going up Back up Pretty solid underneath, so mostly just panel work required: Next step is to start on the rear arch and take it from there
