Hi all,
Currently restoring a MK2 transit Dormobile conversion. The battle against the rust is slowly winning (just epoxy primed a big chunk of the engine bay which looks very sexy).
Problem is that, whilst most of each front wing is in pretty good nick, the sections where the indicators attach are absolutely not, well rusty and crumbly. Does anyone have any wings / fenders (not sure on correct terminology?) kicking about? The rest of the wing doesn't necessarily have to be in that good nick as I've got a welder who can do a bit of a bodge. They do sell them online, replica parts, but are £195 each!!
Let me know, if anyone can help drop us a PM / an email (harry.j.clarke@gmail.com) as I'm a bit crap at checking PMs.

Personally Harry I would repair your wings. Dormobile wings are cut off at the back, as the Dormobile starts life as a chassis cowl. You can cut down standard wings, but you have to be sure to get it right! It's the same with the bonnet. That's cut off where the standard bonnet sweeps up at the back edge.

Rust around the indicator apertures is pretty standard, so most old wings will be rusted in that area making cutting bits out tricky

Is it the whole aperture or mainly the bit the indicator screws into? If it's just the screw in bit, just weld in tabs of metal, rustproof, drill a hole and attach the indicator using long self tappers.

Yeah there is metal to weld to, I mean the indicators were screwed in fine and it didn't come up on the MOT or owt, just went I took them off I realised they were looking well manky! But there is some good meat on there for some possible repair work so will have a look into that for sure. Yeah noticed that with the MK2 bonnet , got one from Ralph and spent a while scratching my head thinking it wouldn't fit until we just cut off the back wings and bent them back into shape using the old bonnet as a template! Whoa! That's a lot of rot! We might have some old wings that have rot on the top edge. Might be a few weeks before I can look though.
