hi, thanks for the tip, looks like im getting the hang of transferring these pics!!
this is what it looked like when i brought it anyway, back in january this year. when it turned up it shocked me with how solid it is! i havent needed to do any welding what so ever- wish every car i buy is like that!! i think the second previous owner ran a bodyshop, and made a good job of replacing arches, and from the looks of it, it hasn't ever had much welding done to it at all- i cant see any plates underneath, and the rear floor was like new under the sheet of ply!! the only sad part is that the bodyshop guy only primed it- never laid any paint on. so the next guy had a d.i.y attempt at a respray... and failed! he left the front screen in, even though the rubber was totaly perished, the paint that he did lay on was dripping with runs, and i dont quite know why he only sprayed 3/4 of the van??!! anyway i quite enjoy spraying cars, and have a few under my belt now, so over the last month or so have threw myself at the prep and paint. i decided to go the whole hog and strip the interior out fully and do the lot. i also took the plunge to change it from datona yellow with ermine white, to oylimpic blue and ermine white.

(sorry pics arnt the best)
anyway the old transit only just fits in my little workshop for height, so when doing the top half i had to drop it right down to the deck. im now in the process of fitting it all up and trying to hunt down a few odds and ends to tidy the van up a little, and am aiming to have it down to the mot station within a fortnight.

since these pics i have now fitted all the glass, bonnet, door locks, handles, front seats, boarded and carpeted the back, made up door cards and rear panels, bumpers etc.
im just debating what to do with the interior.... i want to do something versatile with the inside, so i could keep it and potentially use it for a camper, but also practical so i can use it as a van and fit stuff in it with ease. yet im thinking if i was to sell in the future it probably would go best fitted out fully with sink, hob, seats, table, so im dreaming up my own practical, and yet easily removable units (dont worry im a carpenter by trade and fit kitchens, so it wont be old ply lashed together with rusty 4"nails!) im just not quite sure how far to go with the inside. i dont want to 'clutter' it up too much. any inspirations, comments and advice are welcome....
thankyou, matt

Is that a Canterbury conversion? Shame there's no side door, you could put a sofabed across the back.

Yes- would have been nice to have a side door. It does have a hammock across the roof when it's popped up. The old sofa units / sofa bed was just behind the cab seats. I wasn't sure what conversion it was, so it's great that you pointed out its a Canterbury ! Are there many of these ones about? I have seen a couple with a "tilt " roof before.

that must have taken some work to put it back to a panel van! did you replace the roof then?
