Hello to everyone. I am currently buying my first transit from Germany and it’s not a fire service vehicle. Finally I decided against the low kms, no rust and one owner option and went for the more traditional type........... ie non runner/needs everything doing!
Its a SWB early 1978 Mk2 2ltr with windows. Condition is fairly original I think and it has been off the road since 1992, for what reason I have no idea. My plan(or dream!) is to have it restored as original as is affordable with a bit of mechanical upgrade to improve usability.
I will try and post pictures in about a week when I have it at home. In the meanwhile it would be great if anyone has suggestions or recommendations who can help with welding/bodywork/running gear.........everything!
Cheers Steve

Thanks. I’m based in Fakenham, Norfolk but have family in Sarfend, Essex. Also often in Germany........ I would definitely travel to get the right work done.

Welcome along, can I ask why you bought a non running van needing work in the wrong country with the steering wheel on the wrong side? There's plenty like that here but with the steering wheel on the right side..

There's plenty like that here but with the steering wheel on the right side.. I know it all looks wrong! But I also live in Germany so for me it’s good. I bought this one mainly because it’s swb and it has the sliding drivers door and I think it looks good to restore. But I’m no expert..... Thanks Ralph, first on the list would be a bonnet as the one it has is fibreglass, which I’m not keen on.
