twin side doors, tailgate, and cheap, the 3 things i wanted, didn't want to cut up a mint van, would have prefered van not windows, but the spec i wanted with SWB twin side doors only seem to come with windows, the bloke selling said its a 72, but its been narrowed to maybe 68-69, apparenly if the engine is original, the blue rocker covers denote a late 68 van, its got minimal paperwork, so will have to registered as a barn find and dated on the vin number, is supposed to be a 1500cc engine, i have the axle for it, its an irs unit out of a 2015 mustang, engine and gearbox will be got soon, buying a salvage 2015 f150 or mustang 5.0 in the states, will be auto flappy paddle, most likely 6 speed, but maybe 10 speed it will be getting works bubble arches from and escort, but modified to work and look right on the van, might even get some fiberglass ones first to use as tests as a lot cheaper than steel, but want steel in the end. the engine will be in the back like supervan 1, front end will be mustang2 ifs, but depending on engine and box, could be 4wd set up, or just normal, i haven't ruled out 4wd, with selectable 2/4wd not sure if the pics are going to be attached, but lets hope i got it right, [img src=" i68.tinypic.com/2myw3mq.jpg" style="max-width:100%;" src="https://photos.app.goo.gl/3MQaWdsTd9AfqQqQ9" alt=""]

The more I look at the Supervan photos, to me, the front arches look more like their reprofiled twin wheel rears than front Escort bubbles, rears Escort bubbles, it is a good looking minibus, twin doors ,i think, a bonus for plans, and the extra strengh from interior rear panels, even if you do fill the rear windows, the engines going to sound cool enough in the van, without it ‘booning’ off resonating side panels, ticks the boxes for the base a lot more with less work than the slider swb, your building a V8 music powered mobile subwoofer, depends how much reverb you like🙂

yes, the arches are going to be fun to work out, a guy in OZ i think it was had a pic of his van with bubble taped on to show what standard escort ones looked like, and they looked ok i thought, would need a little work, but as i'm only going for a tribute, not a full on replica, most wouldn't notice the difference, the twin doors is purely for shows, so i can show off the engine in the back, and i do like twin side doors, my mk6 has them, they are so useful, won't need a sound system, the engine is all the sound system i will need, it will have cut outs as well so with the flick of a switch, it has straight pipes out the side with no silencer

Hi conrod, i agree that out the box the escort arches won't fit, or look right, but they can be worked with, am planning on getting some cheap fiberglass ones first so they can be cut up and see if escort arches are practical, if they can be worked in, then i will buy some steel ones

Sounds ambitious! Have you ever tackled a project of this magnitude before?

Me and my friends have done similar, you may have seen my friends ford sierra 3 door with an 8.3 v10 dodge viper engine in it, with solid rear axle, does 11's with traction issues, that was an interesting build, he is presently building a 3 door estate sierra cosworth, so this shouldn't b to far out of our capabilities, the front drive if it goes 4wd might cause a headache or 2, as we normally go front engine rear drive

building it as 2wd will be easy, if it goes 4wd then the front axle will be a headache, but it will be overcome.

ok, well here is an update, found a bought a 2018 F150, hoping engine and gearbox is ok, hard front, but i need engine as a template to get everything in place and make sure it works, then the engine will be rebuilt anyway with forged strong internals, so it only needs to be a good ish core, wasn't looking for a 2018, thought they would be out of my budget, but this truck came up at a salvage auction and was local, so i bid and won it, bloody good price as well, so very happy, the 2018 is the 3rd generation coyote v8 form ford, connected to a 10 speed auto with manual selection, basically a flappy paddle box, and they seem to take some punishment, the truck its in probably goes 2.5 ton most the time, my mk1 maybe tops 1.5 if that, so not under anywhere near the stress, the stock factory engine is just on 400hp, and 400lbs/ft so won't be slow, just got the get pickup stripped down now and box up parts i need in the uk to run engine.
