First thing first, I'm NOT saying this is the case here before I get shouted at, lol.
I do wonder though about some online posts, FB and the like, "I'm trying to trace my Dad's old motor", "anyone know where it can be found", etc etc. Using a fake profile and abusing the helpfulness of others is there a possibility of helping targeted theft.
Maybe just my paranoia.

Maybe just my paranoia. All those "spotted" groups don't help either that give location details away, Can guarantee there are dodgy folk on them waiting to pounce!

I split this off from a stolen thread. I kind of agree with phorbuiz, though some 'seeking' posts will be genuine. When Google Street View came out, I had them take all our vans off. It's window shopping for thieves!

i think i saw one a while back where on fb where someone had a cosworth sierra in their garden for years and then it was put on an abandoned page and within weeks it was stolen.they should be banned from giving the location unless for sale
