Good day,
I have in mind to boost my Hymermobile powered by a Transit Pinto 2 liter dual fuel (LPG and Gazoline) with I believe 77 Horse power I purchased a complete 1989 Ford Sierra GL with 93000kms on the clock for 500 euros
I had in mind to keep the Transit electronic distributor and to install it on the Sierra pinto engine. Why because I do not want to use the Sierra ignition "Calculator" with a lot of wirring.
So my questions are : is it possible ? the ignition curve seems different between the two engines but ... Could I use an aftermarket electronic distributor ? Could I use a Sierra older type point distributor if it ever existed and convert it to electronics ?
If not what to do ?
I'm sure I'm not the only one going trough this journey, let me have your experience and expertise on the subject.
Side info : I installed in the van the Sierra radiator and expansion tank along with a twin electrical fans (coming from a Ford Focus) which works great and is quite efficient
Thanks Indianboy

Hello and welcome!
I would install the Sierra engine, with the existing Transit electronic distributor. Sierra's never had points distributors, and it would be a backward step anyway. The Transit electronic distributor is a good system, it will drop straight in, and the ignition curve will be near enough.
The Sierra carburettor probably has the electronic controlled stepper motor to control the idle speed. Not sure if you can delete this and fit an idle stop screw (maybe?) or just fit the existing Transit VV carb, which was not the best thing Ford ever invented!
The T9 will fit reasonably okay, just the gearlever will be much further back as you have probably figured.
