hi all we have a rust free mk1 1972 camper with mk2 front wings (don't get me started!!! the bloke who did it needs shooting). I want to upgrade the dead V4 2000cc lpg & petrol engine, 4 speed box and knackered diff/axle with something else possibly from a mot failure/rusty donor. what I really need to know is WHAT FITS & WHATS available PS I want to stick with the petrol/lpg option which I can get cheap, not interested in a diesel at all. any help very greatfully recieved many thanks in advance. You need the 2000cc dohc engine and running gear from a late Mk5 or early Mk6. You would need loom and ecu etc.

Dave at Gt Bentley the Transit breakers has a MK6 SWB rear wheel drive van with DOHC & factory LPG kit thats on the scrapple scheme so the shell has to be scrapped but everything else is available. I have seen & heard it running. If your interested let me know & I will give you his details?

yeah that sounds good, never swapped one before, what do i do with the ECU etc? will the axle be a straight swap? any tips or concerns??

Nothing is going to be a sraight swap, the engine mount are similar to the Pinto SOHC engine, gearbox mounting will need fabrication as will propshaft bearings and rear axle mountings.You will need to pare down the Mk6 loom to just the engine bay.

thanks, problem i have is limited space to do the swap. does anyone know of someone i can pay to do the work??
i am happy to assist but it sounds like a ramp would be very useful.
