I had one just like that last year , not as tidy but wouldn't have taken much, I paid £800 not £8000!

I've talked to the bloke about this.
He bought it at auction at the end of last year at much less, has done a couple of tidy-up jobs, then put it for sale at £8995. It's now obviously £7995.
Thing is, it still needs the interior tidying more.
Knowing what I do about it I'd have gone to £6k max which I know is still a very big outlay, but try restoring a mk1 with proper panels and a respray and your bills soon storm up.

I remember when no-one wanted the VW T2 buses and you could pick up runners for hundreds. People then said they wished they were worth more and look now. Hippy roots gone, more likely to be owned by accountants. I'd love some of my old motors to be worth good money but that means a replacement costs good money too. I'll stick with affordable, though I hear what you're saying mate.
