What's the button on the front of your van for? Will it blow the horn in ones face?

Results of first fill are in - despite running on 3 on the motorway and loosing a bit due to leakage - according to the pump at Flogas its managed an actual 24mpg! Needless to say whilst i'm impressed I think it is probably more down to filling at different pumps than an actual decrease in consumption. Will wait for the next fill to get a more accurate figure... Am I right in thinking to get a petrol comparison you need to nearly double the mpg? Meaning your achieving 40mpg in comparison to petrol!? Just asking as I'm considering putting my pinto back in and loosing the Di.

Price wise its about equivalent of doing 40mpg on petrol, LPG is roughly half the price of unleaded (or a lot less if you live near Birmingham for some reason!), was getting an actual 18mpg running about on average on LPG before the cylinder head swap in January, I think its doing better now but have been doing local work so not had to fill up for 3 weeks! I should be able to improve on that consumption with a bit more fine tuning,

On those results the pinto seems a better option over the noisy Di. I like the idea that it should have a pinto also. And LEZ compliant. And nice and quiet!!! Did you have any issues with insurance as I've read they can get funny about it/pricy?

@1949bug I'm a carpenter so I'm guessing somewhere about 1/2 to 3/4 a ton of toolage on board + whatever materials i've picked up or have been left over. Normal run is about 20 miles each way. No issues with insurance at all (the only time we've been asked for a cetificate was for my wifes car this time which was with Allianz) never had the price change when its gone from petrol to gas, just struggling to get the DVLA to change the log book still as they want something with a registration number on and all I had was a load of receipts for individual parts rather than a kit.
Like i said if you are ever over this way come and have a run in it and see what you think
I need to get my finger out at some point and get the letter they wanted on headed paper written for me.

Ask Muttley, I am sure he will do one. Thanks Fred, he has offered, just need to sort out a minute to go over and see him (and drop off an LPG tank)

BTW petrol isn't LEZ compliant, it's LEZ exempt

Little things and all that, I finally got my temperature gauge in the dash working at the weekend. I decided as it was already obviously buggered I couldn't make it any worse by messing with it. I took it out and twisted the teeth bit that alters the needle start position so it was reading cold rather than nowhere on the gauge. Put it all back together and lo and behold I have a working gauge!!

I have always fancied doing a turbo LPG conversion on something. Would be great on a Pinto in a Transit I reckon, if you could find one of those old turbo kits like Turbo Technics used to make. Just a low boost setup on a 9:1 comp engine. What is the octane rating of LPG again? Was it 112?
