Hello, I've just bought a 1985 Mk2 Transit 100, LWB single rear wheel high top. It's an ex BBC Local Radio outside broadcast van. Still fitted out with various radio gear and even has a mount on the side for a radio mast. I was wondering if anybody knew of a similar vehicle? Mines done 30k from new and I'm unsure about value for insurance so if anybody has a rough idea I'd be very grateful.
Best wishes, Sam

hello mate, this kinda rings a bell. Is it red? Finding another LWB single wheeler with low milage to compare it with will be hard. Are you keeping it original?

I'm struggling to upload pics at the moment, I'm using my phone as my laptop has died and can't see any attachments option? I'll add some ASAP. The van is white, I bought it from a local community radio station who got it straight from the BBC in 1997. It comes with a huge BBC Local Radio OB Van folder containing original drawings and every purchase order, invoice and receipt for maintenance from new. It is complete with all the shelfing, cabinets, plug sockets and wiring, has a fuse box and 240V hookup but all the sound equipment has gone. I was planning on doing a camper conversion or maybe a motorsport style rally bus? I assume the front spoilers for mk2's are hard to get?

That said, I'm tempted to leave as is, it's almost a shame to hack it about..

that really bugs me when people won't post.if you seriously wanted it I could ask on the Cortina site if someone could collect it as there are a few around that area and possibly thru the network it could be got to you or very near as you are quite central.

she looks a nice enough van.going by the side pictures you wouldn't really have to chop her about as there are enough windows there surely.

Front spoiler won, I managed to get the seller to post I've been running the van as a daily driver for the last week and can honestly say she gets more attention than any car I've owned including 2 Capri's and a Manta GTE. Everybody wants to talk about it and 2 people have already made offers for her. I hadn't realised how popular mk2 Transits had become - I'm now in the process of putting a CAT 1 alarm on her as she lives outside on the drive and I'm worried about her vanishing, am I being paranoid??
