Hi I've just bought a 1980 autosleeper with pop up roof. Does anyone have any experience or ideas about fitting 3 point rear seat belts? I have young kids so don't have much choice.. If has the surround windows so no pillar close to the forward facing rear seats, which are behind the front seats on either side of the vehicle. Any advice appreciated.

Welcome mate. You need to host the pics somewhere. I use a free account at photobucket.com. As for your seatbelts, I do think you will struggle as the interior is in the way of the most suitable mounting points and its made of wood! The good news is side facing seats arent part of the MOT so the fitting wont be part of it. Also 1980 vehicles dont legaly need them

Are these seats single or double? Have you already got the seats fitted?

!Hi guys thanks for the welcome and for the responses so far! The seats are bench seats but you can move the cushions / layout around to create 2 single forward facing seats. There are no seat belts yet but I have a 2yr old and 5yr old so really don't want to drive with them not belted up. I'm told it may only be possible to fit lap straps but even this is not ideal... I don't know how to upload the photos from photobucket but hopefully this link works? s113.photobucket.com/user/chrisyoung73/library/?view=recent&page=1#

My AutoSleeper is from '85 and without pics I'm guessing the same style interior (I can't access Photobucket in work). I don't think it's possible to get 3 point belts in due to the windows - there isn't a proper good structural point for the upper bolt. Mine has been fitted with lap belts which as you say are not ideal but they're better than nothing.

It probably does, but the firewall in work blocks access to content hosted by Photobucket, eBay, and a few others, so I can't see them until I'm home. I don't know where you're based but you're welcome to see how mine was done. I'm in the NW and I'll also be at Tatton Park show in Cheshire the weekend of 30/05 and Cortina Day (and other old Fords) in Monmouthshire weekend of 08/06.

Thanks - have a look at the photos if you don't mind. The one to look at is bottom right of the 3rd photo where you can see the forward facing rear seat.
I'd be prepared to mess around with it if meant 3 pointers could be done...

As these are not actual seats with frames you are going to have a problem. You could fabricate a frame for the belts but this would need to be securely mounted which will affect the dual purpose nature of the seat. It would appear lap belts are your only option
