Vic, you will find loads better than me on here...but i think these are the starters...carb (i cant see it in the pic) what colour is smoke? Fuel pump, sparks, leads, dizzy timing, petrol feed tube condition and points some people start at plugs, have you pulled them out yet? Check colour and little metal bits at end If its not broken...I can break it!

Just thinking about this again, a big air leak would cause the same symptoms, have a check around the carb for any hoses that have perished or come off, if you get a can of WD40 or something similar and spray it around the gaskets etc while the engine running the engine note should change when you spray it on the leak. Like the bomber nose art idea

Update on Bettie - turned out the engine problem was the carb. Took it apart and can it a good clean, rebuilt it and all is well. Running like money But to be safe i've put some fuel cleaner treatment in the tank. Bettie is now in the bodyshop for the next two weeks getting done and ready for paint. Things on the list are getting ticked off. However i've got one major thing that i need help with. The pop up roof needs replacing, does anyone know who i can turn to? Idealy i would like to have a wooden roof ( like the hull of a boat) but at the moment I just need a new pop up roof made. Any ideas? Again i'm in the peterborough/corby/kettering area.
