Had time today to remove some bits from the donor van. I now have a pedal box, throttle pedal, steering column and wiper assembly to offer up to the Mk1 on the right hand side. Need to get the IFS in first though. In answer to my own questions about the heater box and transmission tunnel, Its going to be the original heater and floor pan.

That why got it from Italy. The 1972 camper we had in 2003 was rotten. We had to replace the front 3 foot of the chassis and front cross member. There's got to be some rot on this one somewhere but i ain't found it yet.

Got the front axle off today. I'm now in a quandary about whether to move the IFS axle back and if so how much? 40mm apparently will center the wheels in the arches but then the steering column UJ's have problems. Maybe 20mm'll do?

Making these today. A direct copy of Oldskoolers, hope they're not pattented  but they certantly are a fab idea! I decided to cut the bottom of the chassis rail out above where the infill part is to be welded on so it becomes part of the chassis box section not one of it's own. Then when the inside gets rust treated it will too.

After more toing and froing today to get the engine & gearbox in the right place, I decided to lift it out again to cut the corner out of the bulkhead where the gearbox got too close. Got the shocker top mounts and drivers foot well cut out of the Mk5 as well today.
