Aaaah yes that's a fair point, for my business its probably not that big an issue either way but I know what you mean. decided to go down the tidy it up on the cheap route as I already have a mk1 rat beavertail, that is far beyond saving into anything respectable anyway!

Appearance makes a big difference to the type of customer you get as well Stoney.
I did freelance work for 2 companies who got there customers from the same area.
The company's had different public images, and got different punters. From my point of view, one company's punters tended to moan, the other's punters tended to say nice things.

Made a start on the old girl today, rubbed down and cleaned the wheels and gave them a coat of alloy wheel silver (poundlands finest no less)
cleaned up under the bonnet and finished the previous owners half arsed paintjob under the bonnet in satin black.
Pulled the mat out and gave it a good clean, and polished the dash up with some cheapo dash shine.
Spend so far £400 for the truck and £3 on paint and dash shine, oh and minus the £18 in change I found under the mat lol

£18 in change. I think thats a record. That aint no record, A cou[ple of years ago I was given a very rotten mk5 for scrap, ex-builders van, on the way home the dash lights stopped working, so I hit the dash, some coins fell out. Next day I stripped the van and the grand total behind the dash, in the concrete on the floor and generally scattered around the van was ........ £547.32. The guy had ownet the van from new, 1999, and everytime he went through a maccyD or BK would just chuck the change on the dash. So after selling the engine, scrapping the shell and getting the 'change' I walked away with just under a Grand....Result!! Now, if he would just give up on that T5 Trainspotter sorry Transporter........
