Thanks. Need to get a lot of use out of it the next month or two!
I'm involved with the re-opening of the narrow gauge railway between Tralee and Blennerville and intend using the camper there for one or two nights a week until it gets too cold.

No idea who Enid is but I'm a Life member there, so hoping to get that far. Enid Blyton even had a picture of corfe castle on one of her books

I'm getting a bit annoyed now.....it failed on the o/s front wheel being stiff to turn...caliper seized...It was seized last time it failed on the same thing but I freed it off, it was seized in not out. I think they are taking the Mick.
Oh and he says the handbrake is too stiff at two clicks...., it could come on as you drive along...how that would happen I don't know (but just an advisory so he can take a jump at himself...) Rear brake imbalance is just within the tolerance.... new shoes and cylinders so I might try swapping the drums over, see what that might do..

Find a new test station mate. Not funny.

I will when my time runs out....retests are half the price of a full test, I have until the 26th..... they said next time they'll put it thorugh the machine first before putting in the computer so I suppose that's something, but I hate being fed crap....who ever heard of a handbrake coming on by itself!
Had the calliper stripped today and cleaned right out so that should be OK now, that's the only thing it failed on. Trouble is the rear brake imbalance is right on the 30% limit (28.83) and I'm afraid they'll find it's 31& next time! What would cause an imbalance like that? shoes and cylinders replaced together for the last test and has been nowhere since......could it be the drums? someone suggested swapping them over.....

Dont forget pics of the railway, i love steam engines, mechanical porn lol

I can't get my head round that.... wouldn't that stop the brake working altogether rather than reducing the overall efficiency of that drum?

Checked the pipe, it's fine except for one very small narrowing, spoke to my mechanic, he didn't think this would be it, he thought lack of use.
I thought I'd have a look inside the drum, shoes were a bit shiny in places which I don't think is right and could be the problem (even though they are nearly new)

Try a light sand with very fine wet and dry to scuff the shiny spots

Like truckie said give them a good scuff so they arent shiney any more. Personally i`ve always used 120 or 240 grit to scuff the pads

I forgot to say, I already did that :-) they are almost new so I thought a good hard scour would do no harm and I buffed up the drum a bit too.Probably took a good few miles off them but I doubt I'll ever wear them out.
