Have you connected the vacuum tube to the brake servo?

yes...the brakes don't "pump up" so I'm thinking master cylinder seala. It isn't losing fluid as far as I can see .
I'm a bit worried though. It cut out last night and I assumed it ran out of petrol but at the time I was investigating a rubbing noise and slight knock. Ithought it might be the timing belt cover but now I'm worried it may be more sinister

that's the trouble always...could be any one of a dozen things....I'm going to clean up all the connections to start with....I can't think the coil would overheat in a minute, but could have become faulty during the lay off period...but so could a few things! I'll have the top off the cerb to check the choke isn't sticking too I think

Check the cheapest first! Gunge in the carb, fuel pump diaphragm, sticking carb float. Leccy ignition doesn't have much to go wrong.

I've sorted the running problem....not sure how, just clenaed and checked everything
Brakes still not working. Borrowed a pressure bleeder and still no joy. I took one pipe off the master and pumped pedal...first pump lots of fluid , after wards just air which was sucking in and out with the pedal, so I reckom my first thought of the Master being duff was right. what do you think? I'll have to try and get a kit for it I think

master cylinder sourced from the UK fitted and working. :-) Been on a test drive to the commercial mechanic who loaned me the pressure bleeder (and wouldn't take money for the fluid I used :-) tomorrow morning is tinkering time and then the road trip I promised a while back...sort of Buttevant direction

I hope the fluid didn't go to the servo. At least they are working, good news.

i haven't looked but I wasn't losing any and there were no clouds of smoke which I;d expect if that happened.Servo is working
if it makes sesne, we reckon that the inner piston was seizd and the outer one (nearest the servo) was working, pushing the fluid back inot the reservoir
