this one has been out of my hands a few weeks now and the bodywork is coming along nicely. i called in for a look recently and im well happy with how its progressing. the van was inside nice and dry for nearly 6 months so i took no chances when moving it as the weather wasnt great!! i also brought a brochure from my collection so the bodywork man can hopefully fake the original lines where the panels meet in the finished filler with a run of a cutting disc on a straight edge.....at least i hope he will if he has enough patience left at that stage!!!! and heres how she looks at the moment. just the right hand side of the van to be filled and prepped, few more wee dents to be sorted, and it will be getting close. its turned into a pretty big project this one!!

ive only recently got a provisional to go some way to cover me if im stopped!! like a lot of other things in our country its a total rip off to get a trailer licence. between compulsory lessons (with an appointed driving school, who also offer hire of a vehicle and trailer to do the test, which is recommended for a pass!!!) and doing the test there wouldnt be much change left out of 500 quid!!
i have over 15 yrs experience towing trailers and no doubt well over 100k miles under my belt with all the long uk runs etc but ill still have to jump through several hoops to get sorted.
the real hilarity was a couple of years ago when trailer licences became a requirement here and the farmers groups started making noise about it, they were granted an amnesty for a couple of months where they could just go in and add the trailer to theyre car licence with no test as long as they held a car licence before 1989!!!
different laws for everyone it seems!!

Oooo shiney paint you can't beat it. We have grandad rights for trailers here. If you passed before 97, you got it automatically. I hate towing.

i thought that all changed fred for everyone.i passed my test in 84 and on my license I can drive upto 7.5 ton with a trailer upto 12 ton total but I thought that all went out the window probably thanks to Europe. Declan that's a shear rip off I mean one minute you can tow a trailer then the next day you can't.and they go on about the speed van being a rip off I think this is far worse.

I got her out in the sun yesterday for a few pics. I haven't started reassembly yet as im sheeting up a bit of a shed that the van will live in from now on when not in use. im hoping it will help her to survive a bit longer this time after all the work that went into her. this is my "chair" for the moment for moving her around!!!  im hoping to get stuck into the build up very soon. the wheels are blasted and painted along with the towbar and bumpers etc.
