The quickest way to go disc on a Mk1 is to use the Mk2 axle. That way you only need the U bolts and flexi hoses. You could do the hubs too, but it depends how easy the hub assembly comes apart.

It's got solid discs on it now but it's been sat 25 years so do need replacing I've see the thread about LDV calipers fitting straight on so that could be an option maybe

I tend to keep the front ones hard to help with parking as I notice when they have lost 5 psi or so as the steering gets a bit harder, it doesn't wander about on the road though at the speeds i travel.

Cheers both I was thinking it would need to be more in the rears with it being a camper I take it the tyres are good as 195's?
What sort of speed should the old girl be happy at? Will it plod at 50?

I don't see 50 being to much to ask but would personally run 45psi all round

Depending on what axle ratio its running and what engine/ gearbox, my mk2 has the 2.0 low compression pinto, original 4 speed and 4.63 axle ratio and will happily run at 50, 60 is ok but it starts to feel like you are pushing it a bit.

I'll stick with 50psi all round and see how I get on It's got the 2l v4 in it and a 4 speed box no idea of ratios etc I'll be happy enough if it will do 50 I don't want to drive it like a race car but then again anything under 50 on a motorway etc is a bit slow imo. I haven't tried to start it yet or even turn the engine over so I still dont know if it's evengoing to run
