Need as many people as we can to sign this petition for rolling tax exemption As the rolling 25 year exemption for Road Tax on vehicles was discontinued many years ago it should be time for some update to be carried out, if not 25+ years how about pre 1985. These part of our heritage most of which do few miles on a few days of the year. So if a new Fiat 500 is free why not these vehicles, they may not be fuel efficient but neither have they caused pollution from their production for decades. Thank you epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/37880

possibly but TBH I think as CO2 tax banded vehicles become classic as time goes on the PLGs will have a tax related value of thier own.

Done, as M201 says, most modern vehicles will never see 25 years old

I'm not for this I'm afraid, I can't help but think that if we all go bleating on at the government about reinstating the rolling historic taxation class, that they will turn around and revoke the historic tax class altogether, therefore quite possibly stopping vehicles that are currently qualifying for free road tax from having free road tax. Lets face it the country is in a right state and the government already loose alot in vehicle road tax revenue so they are not going to be keen to go dishing out more.
I also think that the pre 1960 mot exemption along with reinstating free road tax is a bad idea, call me cynical but I think it is a start in the grand scheme to start limiting the amount we can use our classics/get them of the road.
You don't get something for nothing in this life so I can't see the government giving something without taking something back! Just my two pennies worth!
After reading this you'd think that I am not into classic vehicles, well how wrong you would be, I have owned various classics over a 25 year period and currently have a 1967 Ford Anglia and a 1966 Mk1 Ford Cortina and soon to take delivery of a 1966 LWB twin wheel Mk1 Transit and my father has quite a collection of classics too.

I agree, old motors are a big concern in this country, that won't worry them though. Look at other major businesses that have been killed of over the years. I'm not saying that is what will happen, like I said in my post maybe I'm being cynical but one thing I do know is they wont give something for nothing without having something back. And changing the subject slightly there is another threat looming for the old motors, modifications. But I won't go there!
