Just got back from picking up ITV documentation and window sticker, the test period here for historic differs from proposed UK ones in that the test period is down to tester, not exemption, can be here from instant enforced destruction order, then 3 month increments. Long and short got a 4 year test period for van,no mileage restrictions, use sole domestic/pleasure(no business use) Test period the same as for a new car here,so pretty made up. Off to another office Monday to hand everything in with all’s the I,s dotted and t,s crossed in the now book of paperwork for plate issue. ‘ Love it when a plan comes together’(original A team, not Ed Sherran’s),just no way anticipated that it would take so long.

Thanks DR,interior can stay for four now, after watching them do initial test(which was for registration purposes as well as ITV) they weigh van,so I’m thinking if I don’t take it out it’ll be over and fail(they really did go to the lengths of checking tank capacity/gauge level for weight reading). 4 years is enough time that’s it’s not a worry though😉

System here sucks more than a crack whore, wait two weeks for appt, with form stating what papers are req, take all been told to appt, all accepted, another 100€ for plate issue,,papers go upstairs for registration no.,told to return in half hour and it’s done🙂,leave happy,Got back, now I need 2 ,unmentioned b4 today things, one a notification from local town hall(50km from were I’m standing, were I’ve just come from),so easy but means return visit/2 nd appt again🙁,and notification from another building round corner from appt to say that tax has been paid to go on road, but it’s already had the historic inspection, with payment for that, with a further payment of tax so the van could go on road straightaway with no.issue so I just don’t get it (been told all along the final payment was no.issue) Pissed off to the max that I wasn’t told I need this 2 weeks ago when made this appt, all these offices shut at 3 for the day,so tomorrow local town hall,Wed.tax office,Fri another appt for no issue.. Will get there but what a f##cking song and dance,it would be easier to take a shit through the eye of a needle doing the limbo while keeping a hula hoop going round your waist. Between the lines it apparent there just making it fu##ing hard for anyone that wants to run an older vehicle here, talking to someone, the traffic police here send letters to people with cars 20 and over advising them that they ‘might’ have problems with emmisions at there next ITV(similar fashion to I was advised to register it here or risk loosing it if caught driving on UK plates, gentle but concise warning, the ‘law’ having a quiet word in your shell like) So what happens to the future ‘historic’ 20 over and no longer used?10 year storage and maintenance to keep roadworthy awaiting historic,or scrapped? Thought I’d be as happy as a pig in shit today, but now I’m just fed up of pigs behind desks trying to feed me it.

I had relatives living in Turkey for a while and the system there was just the same, you would need 3 copies of the same form all signed but they would only tell you about them one at a time....
