Hello! I just got my first Transit, and it's a 1977mod van, with only 6400miles / 10500km on the clock The car was standing in a garage when I saw it, and after a while, I found the owner, and I got the car It's been standing in the same place for 25 years, in a heated garage with the windows open. Not been started for 25 years! I tried to start it today, and I replaced the battery, and after 30 sec it starts I will start a thread on the forum, and you can check the progress, and hopefully you guys can help me with all the questions I have I'm from Norway by the way, and my English is rusty, so sorry for that

Hello to you, your English is way better than my Norwegian Haha but I guess you don't have to write norwegian so often? Thans guys, Really looking forward to start on this car. It's only small marks of rust in the paint, so this will be a fun and easy project. Will be fun to try it on the road. I'm not driving the car on the road yet because of all the salt, and my car has absolutly no rust under. Want to keep it that way

Welcome. HOLY SHIT!! That would be worth a lot in the UK, about a pound a mile!! I look forward to seeing more of a van, a LWB too! Thank you. Really? That's great If I will sell it, I have to export it from Norway I think. There is not a market for this kind of cars here, so they are sold cheep. There is only one in Norway for sale now: www.finn.no/finn/car/used/object?finnkode=71661320&searchclickthrough=trueHow much do you think my car may be sold for in the UK? with everything working, and new paint

If 18000 Norwiegen k is about £1500 the van in the advert would sell VERY quickly at that price here, but you have to add shipping registration etc,so the price would be more. Checkout eBay uk,or other uk car sites, there are some advertized at silly money(£9000),but these adverts run and run, they do not sell. A cleaner lower km one similar to advert picture(German fire Van) recently sold(I belive!?) for approx £5000.(was cleaner/better body wise to your ad) Your Van is a bullnose front, the prices above are for petrol(flat front) vans. The value is what someone is willing to pay, different people will have different prices, realistically finished your Van here would be 4-5k upwards, with the right buyer more.. But how long is a piece of string?,(apart from twice as long as in the middle). Prices here vary wildly.

Thanks for the answer The reason I ask is that I really don't have any place to have it in the winter. It's better to sell it to someone that have garage, then just leave it outdoor here in the winter But I have to fix it first anyway, and I'm really looking forward to start

It would be worth more than £4-5k here all done. Nearer £8k really.
Nice mk1/mk2 ex Firevans are going for around £6-8k now.

If you do want to sell it at some point let me know as I would be interested in buying it and driving it back to the UK, whereabouts in Norway are you?
I know nothing about your registration system - Are there any taxes to pay to transfer the ownership in Norway, do the registration plates stay on the van or do you have to get the temporary red plates like in Germany?
I don't think fire van prices are really that high in the UK look at what Ralph and Vandalism paid for their vans, people are advertising them at high prices but I would be very surprised if they were actually getting them. Remember with a fire van you get the small v4 engine and the worst possible diff ratio in them.

Unless you buy a mk2 Firevan. Then you get a Pinto but still the poor diff, but they are rust free and very low miles.
I've seen mk2's going for around £7k. They sell for the strong money but it is a niche market.

There's a nice mk2 firevan on classiccarsforsale at £6k,been listed for months, doesn't appear to of sold, the mk1 firevan I thought had sold at £5k has been relisted again. As stated fire vans are a niche, but this doesn't appear to be one. I stated 4/5 k for a price at what I belive this Van would sell for,not be advertized at for a long period of time( did say maybe more),it could be more appealing than fire vans to some people due to the bullnose.(prices with Van in UK) From seeing vans on eBay etc again and again, unless something special, they don't seem to be moving, until they do the prices are just hype,or good for insurance valuations on already owned vans.
