Ooh, thats Sounds bad! Normaly i use to put 20/50 in older worn engines without problems. But ill put 10/30 in it instead.. Wonder what The oil pressure gauge is going read, im down on 1bar on idle when its warm. (+20-25c)

One thing I have noticed in both the 'motomobil' and also in 'Swedwspeed' parts/tuning for the colongev4 is that they both offer higher volume oil pumps/cooler kits, just makes me wonder if the original pumps ok with thinner oil but struggle with thicker. This is just a observation, but why offer upgraded parts if the original was satisfactory? Know from reading Ford manual that the oilways were redisigned for better flow in post fall 67 onwards, different heads etc,but maybe it's an inherent problem with the engine.

Sounds like something that i should put on The "to buy" list when fixing The engine! How is it one know if The car runs a cologne engine or an essex egine? Something with the location of The distributor right?

Mk1 and Mk2 are the same mate, Ralph might have one. There are petrol and diesel though, with diesel being rarer.

A general question, can the sender be taken out and cleaned to cure that?

When I worked for Fords in the late 70's we always used 20/50, there were no other grades available in the workshop.

Hmm. I might run 20/50 then. The only oil with "high" zink % i can get a hold of easy is gulf classic 20/50 so it would be The easiest thing. Last owner prob. Had 10w30 cus thats what i found an old can of in The car when i bought it.

We are really enjoying the campervan! Me, gf and 2,5yo Elise is now 700km from home and loving the views the transit is offering us. All i could wish for now is better gearing for less rpm at higher speed but i guess thats more or less impossible. But when winter comes im going to tare down the v4 engine for a rebuild and electronic egnition convertion:) consumptiom is 1,18liters/10km. Way less then expected! But i newer go over 80km/h, i dont like the v4 screaming. I have a 911 for going fast and we'r not in a hurry:)
Btw went with 10/40 (had a 4liter can i the garage) oil pressure is low so im going to install one of those hi performance oilpumps when the engine is out.
