Hi Guys
I bought my 1978 minibus from my best mate in Adelaide about 12 months ago.
He found it in country South Australia and sold it to me for $4500.
It has had a lot of money spent by an old fella that wanted to tour the country.
It has a fully engineered Windsor 302 V8 and C4 auto. Its smooth and powerful but Im going to beef it up soon.
Its got a beautiful ride, (monroe gt shocks) albeit heavy steering and no air cond which I plan to fix over the coming years.
I think it has the holden HQ front disc conversion...the mechanic said its definitely been converted but i can be sure its holden.
The body is ridiculously straight but I noticed some bog and previous repairs on roof so took it to my rust guy and $4000 later, all of the gutters had to be replaced and a huge amount of the roof...I will put photos up soon....it wasnt pretty.
The interior is amazing condition.
It has twin lpg tanks in the cargo area with a switch to flick between once empty.
So I finally got the call to say the beast was ready to pick up and the guy said he couldnt get it to move forward.
Very odd I thought....got it towed to my V8 specialist workshop and they called me with the bad news. One snapped axle and one twisting plus schrapnel in diff. It seems my panel beater decided to have some fun in my van and play dumb about it after breaking her....it was running perfectly when I dropped it off.
So its currently sitting at the workshop after 12 months away waiting for me to find a diff.
It seems impossible to find one from a mk1 or 2 transit...most wreckers just laugh on the phone, even the transit wrecker scoffed at me.
Im going to get a 9 inch diff conversion done when I have saved the $$$ but hoping guys here can help me with a cheap solution for now.
Ive got big plans for this Van, Im going to make it my daily driver and keep it forever (well thats the plan) but gutted that its stuck in a workshop.
