Jesus that was a mess, not many would take that one on To be fair if the new owner had known about it that's not that bad rot wise. It's more the fact that they didn't. At least it's a straight forwards repair and spring hangers were available.

I attempted to start this truck today and uncovered even more atrocious bodges! The stop solenoid feed wire was wired direct to the battery through a hazard light switch on the dash, no fuse at all. Sold to the new owner as a "security feature" As this was a petrol van, the ignition switch has no unbroken feed for the solenoid so I will have to fit the right switch! The rest of the wiring is similarily crap. The main battery feed to the starter was not only too small in current capacity but was also fitted with a manky U shaped connector on the solenoid for the starter, as soon as you tried to start it glowed red and ignited the insulation!! Fitted double the capacity new wires and soldered connedtors and it fired up right away, I will post some pics of the bodges soon, watch htis post for more horror stories (the brakes!!)

Worse than that! At least wooden pads would work for a little while

My transit had a very similar problem although not as severe. When we removed the bumper a crumbly chunk of the chassis that the bolt was attached to came right of with it!
