I have a Mk2 with a 1.6 crossflow which my dad bought in 1986. He ran it on LPG for years, converted it to a 2litre pinto, still on LPG and kept the 1.6 . It also had a gearbox with one lug on the top. I was wondering how rare this model is.

Was it brand new in 1986? I can't see Ford keeping the tooling to fit crossflows right to the end. I did hear of a V4 1978 Mk2, but as the Mk1 had just finished that's a bit more likely.

No the van was registered new in 1981. The gearbox is dated 1979 and the engine number matches the log book.

Well that would put it in very early production.

Just sounds like Ford using up all the old Mk1 stuff they had laying around
