If you are sure that the parked position is correct, then the crank is 180 degrees out. Disconnect crank at wiper motor, rotate 180 degrees. Remove wipers and refit in correct position.
When the crank is in the parked position, it should be in line with the connecting arm, ie. Not at an angle.

Cheers mate. TBH in the end I got sick of it and managed to just disconnect the parking mechanism altogether so I can just control where it parks.
Did a bit of research and apparently it is MOT okay as long as you can manually park the wiper in a position which isn't obscuring your view of the road (i think some older vehicles don't even have a parking option)
