So I finally got the transit out to France and everything was going really well until I broke down literally on the toll booth between France and Spain ! Got towed and got the van started but one of the unions just before the fuel injectors is leaking diesel, so I'm basically running on 3 cylinders!
Ive been told by a number of French garages that the injector assembly will have to be taken apart and rebuilt which could take at least a week (probably more in my experience). Basically I want to get the van up to Brittany (6 hours away) where I can leave it on a friends land until I work out what to do. Not ideal but would it be possible / safe / advise for the garage to just terminate the steel fuel line before it reaches the suspect injector and I can limp up the motorway on 3 cylinders ?
Neglected to take out EU breakdown cover and the cost of transporting a vehicle this size to France or Europe is astronomical.
Gonna speak to the garage now but just wanted you guys opinion

Harry, check with your insurance company 1st, but a mianland EU insurance as a req. has to have recovery in policy, ive had a UK reg and insured van put (current van ive got) on a breakdown truck and brought from the Pyrennes to were i now live in Spain (some 350miles) when the valve seats failed (running on 2 cylinders!) at no cost, my european cover on UK policy covered it. As said at top its an insurance req. to have breakdown recovery in policy to get you to your destination,or home on the european cover. I didnt take out Breakdown poilcy due to this (why pay for something youve already got),ok they dont put you up in hotels etc.,but in the van shouldnt be prob.

I'm with Adrian flux and they weren't having it unfortunately , they said they don't provide EU breakdown assistance unless I signed up to it when I took out the the policy. Cheers tho! Do u reckon it would be possible for a garage to bodge something so I'm not leaking diesel then I could at least limp it somewhere on 3 cylinders ? Don't know much about the fuel injection system past the basics

Strange, I was with Adrian Flux, didnt sign up for breakdown, just added european cover to policy when heading to Europe.....as said recovery is min req on any European cover, so are they telling you that their ‘european’ cover doent actually comply to whats req to drive in Europe? My current Spanish policy is as minimal as you can legally drive (3rd party only, etc) but comes (with green card for other Eu countries ) with recovery because its required as a basic in european cover... Another possible way round maybe to take out an EU breakdown policy with one of the companies (Green Flag etc), plot up and relax for a few days, then use the cover (usually takes few days for cover to become effective), everythings online so use a UK proxy to take out cover stateing you due to travel at such a date, use cover after date..be a lot cheaper than private transport prices, or if you cant fix causing further damage trying to drive miles, would mean you can kick back where you are, knowing youll get it sorted, just not as mobile for few days. I didnt have address to have parts shipped to but after talking to town hall where i was at time they let me get stuff shipped to their adddress, sure cafes or bars if you use them will do the same, (saved getting parts prices bumped up by mechanics, let them tell you whats needed, then youll only get hit for labour of said bits,if you cant do it yourself),if their all saying same thing. Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy..Dont Panic.. ruins the trip..

Stick up a photo of where it's leaking diesel from? Is it from the nut that holds the pipe to the injector?
