G`day all Ive heard that the transit pinto`s had a low compression pinto in them. Im getting my escort on the road as my daily but want an engine to build up for road, rally, track (nothing too big) and was thinking that a transit might be the easiest way to get a pinto. Cheers all Troppo

Early, tin front Mk2 had 200 block engines with narrow lip on the cam cover, ok for mild but not wild tuning. Later had 205 blocks ideal for as mental as you want to go. Both have flat top pistons meaning all the cr differences are acheived by head work.

What would it cost to get it complianced/ engineered with a 2.0 Zetec instead? Loads more power as stock and quite a common conversion over here.

205 block is from a 1985 on Sierra/Transit and 2wd Cosworth. 200 block is from a 4x4 Cosworth.
