Hi folks, I am looking for some info, after just purchasing a Twin Axle LWB Mk2 phase2. br]Any help appreciated. 2. Are all extended rear arches rubber? If so, how do you get them back in shape, and how do you prep them for paint? 3. Is it easy to change a tacho speedometer to a normal one? 4. Why does the 2.0 pinto only have 78bhp when RS2000 had 110. Is it solely down to carb, manifold, cam etc? 5. Are parts available so the barrels can be removed from the handles, and repaired to work with the same key? 6. Best place for new front springs and shocks? 7. Best front brake upgrade, preferably using straight swap or minor modified parts? 8. Are door rubbers/ seals etc still available?
Sorry so many questions. I’ve had classic Fords all my days, but this is my first Old Skool van.

1 depends how good a welder you are. 2 no you can get metal ones, impossible to reshape them, they were never painted originally. 3 you will need a standard speedo binnacle and speedo cable. 4 Transit pinto is low compression, high torque spec.you could tune it up but BHP is not that useful with a 2 ton van. 5 key barrels can be found, try Ralph 9 on here. 6 New springs not available, you can get them retempered, shocks on Ebay or Ralphie. 7 do you have vented discs, if not then they and 4 pot calipers are available. 8 door rubbers and seals can be had from coach trimmers or yet again, Ralphie.

Bigger front calipers from LDVs will fit if you get the correct ones. If the brake system is in good order they don't really need upgrading, after all it was designed to stop something with a potential train weight of near 6 t when pulling a laden trailer.

Thanks for the info. Got bad brake judder from higher speed. I’ll need to check whether it’s discs or drums, as someone mentioned above. Hope it’s discs!!! Don’t fancy a drum conversion, or the thought of keeping the drums on, in this day and age.

Check for kingpin wear, make sure they are greased regularly, a strip and clean of the calipers etc is never a bad idea.
