Well its finally arrived with me. I thought you might all like to see my Mk1 I have recently bought and imported from Germany. I bought it just before Christmas and it was delivered to me this afternoon on a German Transporter. Reading through the paperwork it looks like it was built in November 1965 and registered in June 1966. I bought it from a dealer who specializes in German fire vehicles and equipment. It had just finished its German fire fighting service life and has never been privately owned. Anyway here are some pictures of it, a couple of when it was in Germany still, And one of it after being delivered at my work place

Lovely van there. Looks like it was worth the wait. Is it ok for me to mention that there's more where that came from RP? And that you might, if asked nicely, help people to find one?

Keep us posted on your progress with it mate. If you're thinking of chopping to Rhd etc, you may want to consider doing what I've done. I managed to find a knackered 77 camper with only 70,000 miles on it on ebay, it cost me £250 all in including delivery, A bargain I thought! ;D So far I've swopped the rear axle and springs over, should give a better cruising speed I hope, just finished moving handbrake & brackets left to right, next job is door locks as the german ones only seem to have one lock with a keyhole. The one bit I haven't decided which way to go with yet is the dash board, alter what I've got or cut the whole one out of the scrapper If you've got a complete motor then hopefully you'll have everything you'll need for the complete conversion. One thing I've learnt so far is don't throw anything away! you'll be suprised how many differences there are between german and english vans, especially the early ones.

Thanks mate, I will keep you all posted on progress of it and any future plans. I may well end up converting it to rhd one day but for now I'll leave it as it is. I went to my local dvla office last Friday to get it all registered so fingers crossed it all comes back ok sometime this week and then I take her out for a proper drive! I'm registering her on a pre prefix number that I have had on retention for a while and which ironicly came of one of my old Anglia 105e's years ago that I ended up scrapping!

I hope you asked the DVLA office to return all the german documentation to when they've finished with it? When I registered mine they sounded quite suprised that I would want it back. When I explained that it was a complete history of the van, the girl on the desk just said "Oh yes, I suppose it is!" Are you keeping the Blue light and Dee Dahs on it? ;D

I asked if I could keep the German logbook once they had finished with it as it was part of the vans history but they said I couldn't unfortunately as it has to go back to Germany they told me, they did photocopy it all for me but its not the same as the original document! Yeah im keeping the blue light and dee dahs, will be fun at the shows!
