Driving LHD isn't that bad once you get used to it, and it never bothered me once I had. You just have to think ahead a bit on occasions ie parked vans/lorries etc. For the hassle it is changing everything over, I just didn't bother. I think the new owners of my old one are keeping it that way too when I heard from them last week. Nice tidy van Rome, looks better body dent wise than mine was, but you need to get some proper early front sidelight/indicator units back on it if you can find any ;D

Your right there Ken it ain't that bad driving lhd, I've been driving it around a bit yesterday and today and I'm actually getting used to it being lhd easier than I thought I would.
It is very straight and solid, does have a couple of very minor rust bubbles but when you consider its 47 years old it ain't bad at all. I was thinking that it should have the early sidelight and indicator but wonder if the German ones didn't have them as it doesn't look like it ever has from the wiring on the van. I've noticed on other early German ones for sale that they haven't got the early side light indicator unit either.

You may possibly be right Rome.

All the German ones (even the early ones) have the sidelights in the headlights. It's easy to extend the wiring down though and they definately look more in keeping. The hard bit is finding a good s/h or new pair of early ones, they can fetch silly money on Ebay but do come up from time to time.

Well since I last posted on the van I have been busy driving her about, done a few classic road runs with her and have got to two shows so far. I am however very soon starting her new engine, gearbox an front an rear axle upgrade, just hope I am able to get it all finished before July as I have been asked to do a school leavers prom with it! Nothing like a bit of pressure!!
I'll stick up some recent pics soon.
