Thanks Andy....so looking forward to seeing it in and running...very nervous about that....testing everything out..as u know I've never driven flux..none runner on purchase....Ralph super cool and helpful with stuff..gave me info on axle... so I need 3.5 zepher or zodiac crown&pinion... shame I've painted up axle but it is what it is...only casing...the leaf rears were very loose wen removed...there at Paddington springs Wembley....hope yr engineering place gets running soon😫
Finally got them springs back..looking sweet with new bushes...shackles blasted treated and painted... New rubbers for them.... putting the springs back one ya Todd was abit painful... made the mistake of linking up the bush to chassi first..that's a no no... shackle end first..locate the bush end and put a good trolley jack under the centre point if spring..with a small block of wood in location bush end..this lines up eyes for bolt...
Today was step mats... given this van was made in 67 the step rubber mats have done really well..cracked in places and the odd corner broken away..still very floppy and rubbery tho..not in the tasty sence steve ..these mats are pop riveted in place..so drilled em out ,clean and backed them up with new rubber sheet.. I done this with the cab mat too... great for holding old thin mats and other simular bits together... I'll get a pic up asap of them popped back in place...Will.look near with the piece of angle trim fitted to them...
...thought I'm not goong to waste the day..looking at trim and front mudflaps..these have been playing on my mind for some time as there just not avialible..I hv some nos rear ones😁but fronts..forget it..old ones are shot..well one is ..I got to thinking ..order some 5mm sheet rubber and make some... today was the day to try it..I'm very happy with outcome...just wonna seal the overtop bit in more..I used evo..stuff works great if u give it the tack time before bonding together...hears some pics... [/ur Old one above
Andy....when we fit lump I'll let you do all the underneath bolting 😁.... I'm waiting on fuel line clips and other odds..Ralph s looking to see if he has exhaust parts for me...but I'm not hanging around..gonna strip out interior for refurb..hoping I can cover wood units in thin sheets myself..pop up has to come out in bits.. I hv a catalogue thingy showing my Wayfarer conversion and noticed the small windows in the pop up are like an amber purspex...need to locate someone to cut that for me...and the new rubbers😐oh dear,..some many thoughts on what, who, and where 😁
Stripped all the interior out and started to get the units down to their cactus.. any damp water damaged front have been removed...the frames have been improoved, making them more robust as in my opinion they were knocked together really badly..staple gun..never ever realised they had them in the 60s/70😂... I've drilled pilots and firmed up with screws...funny, when I was doing this job I could smell a bonfire going on somewhere..Karen came out saying she thought I'd decided to burn it all🤣...anyways see the pics
That was standard style construction of camper stuff, they aren't well built! Usually put together with an air stapler
Yep..never thought staples were even invented then....but yes...really badly put together..I hv totally stripped the units, and used screws to hold framework together now... all the 3mm ply that has peeled etc has been removed and new stuff fitted back......all will be stained and varnished....I'm gonna try make it look just a bit tidier...
