Hi all, hope everyone is keeping safe.
With the restrictions here in France I have been using my MK2 Camper quite a bit for shopping as it is handy to have lunch in and has the added bonus of it's own loo, anyway I digress.
It has started pulling to the nearside not a lot but the nearside tyre is starting to scrub on the outer part of the tread, I put it down to the tracking being out, not that I have hit any curbs or anything that might of caused it, I have been trying to find somewhere local to get the tracking tested but as it is a cab over camper none of our local centres have the headroom to put it up on the ramps to do the job so I am going to have to go further afield.
Anyway it felt a bit worse yesterday so I thought that I would jack it up and have a look in case there was a track rod end going or something, it all seams pretty solid and in good condition except there appears to be quite a lot of slop in the steering box, I can imagine that this might cause the vehicle to wander a little but not to pull to one side, I wondered if anyone has any thoughts on that, or do you think that it has started pulling more because the tyre is warn?
Also has anyone tried repairing the steering box, I found a company in Germany
That sells a new box (but it is about 450€ before shipping)
but they also sell replacement parts for a more reasonable price but wondered if you needed special tools etc to work on one.
