Fred, yes, it was a Mini bus when I bought it, (she him) but I think it left the factory as a van and was converted by a local coach builder.

Just thought I’d mention the filler in the lower side panels isn’t hiding any rust or rot, when it was painted I thought it a good idea to fill in the seams, but now like the black grill I’m not sure.
Fred, another reason I think it started live as a van is the inside’s only a single skin.

Lovely looking van you've got there mate. The black grill looks good, can't see whether it's gloss or matt though? needs to be matt really. As for filling in the seams, not so good, it just gives the impression of a bad repair even if it's not, if you know what I mean.

I agree with Andy about the seams. Its inevitable it will crack up unless you use lead....

Thanks Fred,I’ve always though it started life as a van because of the single skin .

Andy, Fred, I have to agree with you, filling the seams wasn’t one of my better ideas.
andy the grill is gloss, the down side to it being black is that from a distance it looks as though there isn’t one fitted, it sort of blends in with the radiator and looks like a black hole.

I think the front looks worse in your pic because there's no number plate fitted. The grill in matt black would be correct for the year as that's how a lot came out of the factory if my memory seves me right, it would be reasonably easy to spray it matt with an aerosol. Try sticking a period AA badge on it to break it up. I still really like it, it's simple and understated.

andy when I bought it the grill was white, I painted it black when the van was repainted as I thought it went well with the red, (and also because I had 2.5 litres of black and no white ) I still like the black and as you suggest I will try breaking it up with a period badge. picture with the number plate included.
