G`day guys Does anyone in Aus know if theres an alternative to a transit cable? I was thinking falcon or cortina as its got a 200 crossflow in it, i need this fast so if you have any clue i would appreciate it. Cheers Troppo
EDIT Found the part number Part # TF-9C799-A and it looks like its a cortina part as well. Ho Hum off to u-pullit to find out.
EDIT#2 Not a single ford before 1986 in the joint, and walking aroumd in 30 degree heat made it a bitch of a day. Got to get one made up i think.

I did but was kinda hoping to find the part today, i`ve got a few pages i`ll be going back to though, looks like the part number i gave is wrong, the pedal end is different. Might look into changing the pedal to suit, saw plenty like that at the wreckers

. There's nothing high tech about your accelerator cable troppo.
It's simply an outer holding a bit of wire with a couple of ends. The ends can be a bit special.
I don't know what's near you, but pedal cycle shops, motorcycle shop and trailer shops sell something very similar.
Anyhow, exactly what's wrong with your old acclerator cable please?

The rod end that attaches to the acelerator pedal has broken off at the cable. Its broken off flush so i caant solder or weld it, i guess it was a second rate part that just suffered metal fatigue as its only a couple of years old and before you ask the mob that made have already told me that they wont replace it under warranty

. I guess that's the narrow end Troppo.
If you can shorten the outer at all, I suggest you consider 1) "crimping" a bit of tube on the end (crimping ala known as flatenning). 2) Using the inside out of a chocolate block connector (electrical connector) to make the end nipple. Take the brass part of the connector out of the plastic.
After that, try your motorcyle shop etc to see if they have anything close, sometimes they carry solder on nipples. If you can't shorten your outer, how about buying a longer cable? Rob the inner to use in your outer, I cut the inner with an angle grinder, or on a grindstone.
If neither of the ends is any good, you are back to chocolate block connectors unless the cable shop can sell you something better. Sometimes you can run the inner through a choc black connector, round the pedal linkage, back through the connector, and then tighten the screws. Same at the other end if push comes to shove.
I'm off to the land of Zzzz now I'm afraid Troppo, I hope you can spin my suggestions into something useful. I've even seen a bit of binder twine used to replace the inner when a farmer's been stuck at harvest time. Good luck.

. Meant to say, it's 2 deg C here Troppo. With a max of 5 tomorrow, with intermittent rain, against which, your 30C seems, well, not too bad at all.

I couldprobably do it myself but dont have the time and when the removalists moved the contents of the shed they just dumped it into the new shed, i cant find a bloody thing. I buy this cable i get 12 months warranty and plenty of time to 'refresh' a few other things like fitting power steering and doing a heap of body work.
