Welcome mate! Could be a Canterbury, it;s vey similar to how our Mk1 was before she was reverted to being a van. There should be maker's plate in the passenger footwell.

the ford VIN plate wont tell you about the conversion. Other places to look are on the units by the back doors or the drivers footwell.

BTW you need to find out which winder mechanism you have. As you have an early Mk2 you could have the U shaped mech left over from the Mk1. Its relevant cos the two types of mech (later has an arm) have different attachments for the glass. Early screws to the mech and late has a channel the arm runs along.

Any interior shots? Looks very similar to my AutoSleeper, even down to the colour which if it is the same is 1978 Sierra Beige. That reminds me, I should get my painted van pictures on my resto thread....

That reminds me, I should get my painted van pictures on my resto thread.... My first trip with the camper finished this morning. Great fun! (See thread) Here are a few shots I took of the interior. There are a couple more on my post in the 'Introductions' section. I had a look at an Autosleeper brochure on ebay and the roof line didn't look right. I shall do a trip report and show pics of the roof erected (Ooo-err Missus) :-) Attachments:

Hello all. I am a friend of Alan's (UKMOLE). I have some sad news to report. Alan passed away a few weeks back in Mid November just before Thanksgiving here in the states. I came across this board because I am charged with selling his vehicles and was looking for information on his camper van. Alan was a good friend and I miss him terribly. He loved traveling, fixing up old cars, and his Vespa. I know he was very excited about the Transit. He came over to my house the day he got it back from the shop with the new gear box to show it off. The van now sits at my house along with his escort. He also had a mini cooper (85) that I bought from his estate and will be repairing. I wish I could keep the transit but alas I cannot afford it. That being said I do need to prepare it for sale and hence must familiarize myself with its operation. For anyone interested in more about Alan please check out our Vespa clubs facebook page for stories and photos. link to it from www.nolascootcoop.com That being said I am looking for info on the camper. I cant seem to find where you hook a water supply up. There is no hook up under the van but I do see a holding tank. I cant seem to figure out where to fill it from. I looked under the seats and did find the Butane gas canister for the stove. Any ideas?

Sad news.
Try inside the engine bay, front left as you look in. That's where my AutoSleeper one is and I'm convinced this is an AutoSleeper too. I haven't found the drain plug yet though. Drainage from the sink is rear corner behind the wheel.
