Hi all, Found this site by accident, lucky find. I was looking to buy a Mark 2 transit flatbed and all I can find is a swb one. I would like one that I could put an escort on the back of, the Lwb ones seem to be hard to find. Is it possible to stretch the swb one does anyone know? Any advice welcomed Thank you.

Hello to u matey, u say SWB, single wheel then? If it is then it won't carry a car, too heavy.

....... and somtimes single wheels! Though TBH mostly TW. The SWB has a lighter chassis so even extending it wouldnt be an option.

Welcome along mate. LWB twin wheels is the only option to make a transporter, as Muttley says, SWB wont carry the weight. However, you could tow a trailer legally with a SWB. Are you in the UK or elsewhere?

HI, First thanks for the reply's , I,m in Donegal and trying to figure out what vehicle I can get that I don't need a lorry licence for. The Irish licence Isn't as big as the uk one only upto 3500kg I need a lorry licence after that. I really like mark 2 transit pickup hard to get a good one or they are crazy money.

A post 97 license is the same here. Only those that passed before 97 can drive up to 7.5 tonners. A twin wheel LWB will gross 3.5ton

ahh the good old irish license.i see now ya have to take a test to tow a caravan/trailer too.was gonna change my uk one over but have heard stories of catagories being left off and it being very difficult to get them put back on.i like the fact mine allows me to drive a minibus which I did for many years(all mk2 trannies)but over here you can't without a psv license.
