So not a local then, looks like a Wadham Stringer. Check the back step for the makers plate. Wow thats bad rot. Did the screen fall out? Just one thing, you have the mother of all jobs replacing the screen surround due to it meeting the glassfibre body. Is the reg Maltese? Just going on the signwriting.....

it has a hanlon plate on the back step fred.ye the rot is bad.the screen mainly fell out as where the chap lived was next to a station and the little shitheads used to chuck the ballast at all his motors.i was thinking the screen surround could be a problem.does it have a full roof or is it only a few inches under the fibreglass?it's old original irish plate apparently the malta amb corp have been in ireland since 1937 they're a bit like the st john's/red cross crowd.

funny you should call it a him as my eldest ask the missus what it's name was and she said it was on the plate on the side"jack".if i can sort him then ye would like to keep him as an amby as everyone seems to convert them.

I'm afraid I'd be with mutters on this one. Just purely from a an economical pint of view. I reckon you'd be better looking out for a good chassis cab or a bad camper with a good cab and swapping the amby bit. I know it won't be original but there doesn't look like there is very little original left in her.

Just looking again at these sad pics. If you do decide to break I would love some amby bits. The locker on the driver's side and the sliding door are gone from Bell. The stretchers too......?

The stretchers too......? i'll bear that in mind fred.the locker i take it it has mainly draws and a couple of cupboard doors at the bottom?jack has a black stretcher that look likes seats and a proper red one with folding legs.

Ah right, Bell has 2 ordinary stretchers but they both have back rests. The back rests are black and the stretcher cushions red. The blinds (could you spare a blind?) are blue. All a bit mismatched really. When we got her she was empty in the back, and it's taken years to get it all back, and I notice the locker as it matches the O2 one we got from and ex NHS Hanlon that was being converted to a camper.
