spoke to the chap on the phone.sounded a decent old boy who's wife unfortunately passed away a coouple of months ago so he's having a tidy up.aparantly the van started life as a van and the 2 brothers at robe and hitchens built this one for their own use.he says it's very well built and thought out.just got to hope it don't go up by much or if not at all as he said it will go for what it sells for. My word Irish, they must have done a lot of very fancy footwork if that started out as a van.
What do you reckon to giving R&H a tinkle, and listening to what they have to say? . .
Good luck with it. . .

so its the other option for s Q plate, a vehicle made from vehicles of different ages and second hand parts. Back in the 80s it was somrtimes the DVLA that inflicted the Q plate. I had a mate who built a van from a CF1, millitary axles and a V8. Was a nice job too. All was well till the DVLA trotted up the path and told him you have to have a Q plate.

Looks like it's the other reason Q plates get issued then. When a vehicle is made from second hand parts and can't have its age determined.

That was never a van, would have had high roof if LWB and also not full chassis at the rear

Ain't no Law against adding a LWB chassis back end to a SWB front end is there Muttley? I've seen wierder. French fire brigade used to have 2 Deaux Chevaux front ends welded together.
Perhaps that why the Transit is Q plate?
