I've just converted mine (thread soon) from 4sp to OD on a 2.0 SWB. I was surprised that the prop is completely different as it bolts to the OD unit rather than slide inside the box. You'll also find you need the correct crosssmember, speedo cable, bellhousing, and prop centre carrier. There's a little bit of wiring to sort too such as wiring into fuse 11 and making a couple of connections under the van. It took me a weekend in total but it has been well worth the effort.

I would consider an MT75 as an option

^^ What Fred says ^^
I talked to lots of people before converting mine and the consensus was MT75 all day long, followed by OD unit, followed by T9. The big problem for me against the MT75 route was the gearstick position is slightly to the side and you need to move the hole slightly. On an original camper with factory fitted carpets and mats still in good condition it was a no-no.
If you have to go out and buy all the kit anyway and you're OK with a cut and trim on the floor, MT75 bud.

Is the 5th gear equivalent to the o/d ratio? I was thinking o/d more so I could abuse it as a splitter box as there are quite a few hills when I'm flat out in 2nd but can't pull 3rd. Might help the fuel economy a bit as well if I don't just use it to go faster.....

OD is only on 4th and 3rd. Theres an inhibitor switch for the others. I find the OD standard gears taller than the 4 sp but that could just be me

The inhibitor switches are the bits of wiring you have to sort. 4 wires to the 2x switches on the box, 1 wire to the solenoid on the OD unit, 2 wires to the gearstick switch, and 2 wires to the fusebox. Sounds confusing but it isn't, especially if you buy the little bit of loom with the box. I was going to do an MPG comparison on the way home from Fords on the Front in Blackpool last weekend but the easier gearing meant I was doing a faster speed so not a good comparison. I also got pulled by the lovely constabulary on the M6 South after overtaking their patrol X5!
