hi mate, not sure if you would be interested, I own a 1985 mk2, 2 litre pinto. It's a lwb crew cab though and I live in Lancaster. It's done 78187 miles - not got a FSH but it does appear genuine. We have driven 4000 or so miles in it and our only problem was the (now replaced) starter motor. Thought it may be of interest as I bought it for the same reasons as you want one and have now lost the job that made it possible to afford restoration. Basically it failed MOT and I can't afford to repair it. The problems on the MOT were, and I quote: 001 fuel cap/sealing device does not fasten securely maintaining sealing arrangement (It has a temporary filler cap) 002 Nearside front windscreen washer provides insufficient liquid 003 Offside front windscreen washer provides insufficient liquid 004 Nearside front (under arch in several places) suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded 005 Offside front (under arch in several places) suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded 006 Nearside front (crossmember) Suspension spring mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded 007 Offside front (crossmember) suspension spring mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded 008 Nearside rear (lower sill) suspension spring mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded 009 Nearside rear upper (inner in several places) Suspension spring mounting prescribed area excessively corroded. 010 Offside rear upper (in several places) suspension spring mounting prescribed area excessively corroded. 011 Offside rear lower (in several places) suspension spring mounting is excessively corroded 012 Steering system has excessive free play detected at the steering wheel
We have been informed it would cost around £1000 to put right to get through MOT and while the body is typically rusty for its age it is mechanically and structurally very sound. I can get pictures up of it, just not had chance to take the pics. Am devastated to need to get rid, just can't afford a 1k outlay at the moment and don't want to see it rot outside my house. We are wanting to ideally sell for £1200- £1300, but are obviously open to reasonable offers. I desperately want to just get it fixed up but we just cannot spare the money. I want her to sell on a forum because I can't bear the idea of her being cannibalised for parts. The same one with similar mileage but from malta and in very tidy condition with 3 seats not 6 sold on Ebay for £7500. We have costed for the restoration and a sensible budget would be around £3500 including MOT fixes. Will get some pics up this afternoon if you would be interested? Good luck in your search, they're fantastic vans to own!
