What temperature sensor is the correct colour for a 2l pinto? Mine had a tacho fitted from new, the black coloured sensor runs the 2" round temperature gauge (that was fitted with the tacho models) but when using the normal instrument cluster the temperature gauge never moves. Also tried pink and green sensors that I had in stock with the same result. If I short the sensor wire the gauge will go full deflection so it is working. Suggestions please? ? Also found this handy cross reference retrorides.proboards.com/thread/177579/temp-sender-sensor-details-use

Interesting. Bev had a tacho too, and we reverted to the original dash. The temp gauge works fine. It should be a white sender.

Sounds like you could be having the fun I'm having with a temp gauge that was and should be working perfectly, but suddenly didn't. I have a thread on here somewhere with my confusion.

Well, I checked my sender again before ordering a new one and what I thought was a black ring was just encrusted engine oil....Its white underneath. It still doesn't work the gauge in the instrument cluster though. I think it may be a partially broken feed wire somewhere in the loom that is making the resistance just too high for it too read at anything less than a direct short, I'm going to try running a new wire direct to the gauge and see it that helps.
