Hi guys Need a headlight clip for the nearside headlight. This is the only thing failing the MOT now so desperately need either original clips (which are bloody rare by the sounds of it) or something which would substitute. Any help would be vastly appreciated !!! Harry

Do you mean the headlamp adjuster? Did the van only fail on the headlamp adjustment? If so, you really need a new MOT station mate! They are desperately looking for something to fail your van on. Can the headlight be wedged to correct the aim? In the past I have used screws and even bits of twigs to keep a headlamp still!!

Hi Fred, all I know is he said on the phone that I need a new 'headlamp clip' (there was a long list of things that needed sorting but i've got everything else done).
Its gone in to a commercial garage because its a twin wheel base at the back so (if I understand this correctly) it needs a Class 7 MOT? Have been doing some reading into different classes of MOT and what I require and I've been getting a lot of conflicting info.
This did occur to me that surely anything that holds it in the correct position should be fine!? I did wonder a bit whether they were taking the piss to be honest. Maybe I'll call them up tomorrow and have another chat. It will be back on my drive this week so I can have a fiddle with it, do you think basically anything that can keep it from wobbling should be acceptable?

PS just spoke to Muttley and he's hopefully gonna help out. Have to say since I've got this van the level of help people are up for providing is really great - nice to see there is such a friendly community surrounding these vehicles

If its a camper it will just have a normal car class MOT, which means as long as it will fit on the ramp anywhere can test it. Virtually 100% sure it doesn't need a class 7 test

Yep, campers are class4, and testers should test as they find, not what's on the DVLA record

I thought it had to be registered as a camper

No, it's as the tester finds the van on the day. It could be registered as a camper but stripped of units and used as a load carrier. Out crewbus is registered as 15 seats, but cos the benches are side facing we get a class7.

Mine isn't down as a camper on the V5C but it meets all the DVLA requirements for one (apart from a fixed water container I think) and is quite obviously a camper van. I took it the to the same garage (commercial garage) it had been taken to for years (vans previous previous owner was in Brighton, it lived in Bristol for a while and is now back in Brighton). Only reason I did that is that a friend told me it would need to go to commercial garage due to twin rear wheels. When I got the exhaust fixed (they were a small operation and only just got it in the shop and on the ramp) I asked if they would MOT it, and they said no, because it was over 3 tonnes? Emailed www.lookers.co.uk/ (someone recommended them on facebook) and they said class 7?

The gross is over three tons, they should go on what it actually weighs.
