Hi everyone,
Apologies for all the questions. Just putting the van back together, started it up for the first time in over sixth months and it came to life with the first turn of the ignition! Well chuffed! Anyway, neither the fuel gauge or temperature gauge work. I knew this already. When I went over to see Ralph to pick up some parts then he suggested it might be a component that plugs into the back of the dashboard (little rectangular box with 2 square pins) and gave me an extra dashboard to check. Well I took the component out of that dash and plugged it into mine, but still no dice. However I don't know whether it was working IN that dash either.
Was wondering if anyone knew what the name of this particular component is, whether I can get a replacement, or has any other suggestions as to how to get these 2 gauges working that I can check?
Many thanks.

You're down near Brighton aren't you? If you ever get up Gatwick way I could try it in mine? Or try connecting the temp sensor wire directly to earth, the gauge should move

Have you checked the fuses? The temp could be the wire from the sender. The tank could be the sender, or again the wiring. It's the Voltage Regulator Ralph was talking about.

Sorry to resurrect this!
I'm pretty sure its not the voltage regulator on the dash, I tried a spare one.
The cold start isn't connected, would this have anything to do with the temp gauge?
Where would I be able to source replacement (presuming second hand or 'new' old stock) senders for the fuel / temp gauges?

Nothing to do with the cold start. Test the tempt and fuel gauges by grounding the wire where it plugs onto the respective sender, temp gauge wire is red/white trace and fuel gauge sender wire is blue/green (I think? going from memory here!) With ignition on, gauge should do full sweep to maximum reading.
I bought my temp sender from Burtons, needs to be the correct colour band! Yours is a Phase 2, so same as mine. I will check colour band tomorrow, I think it was white? I bought a new fuel sender (3 actually!) from Ebay, I think it was Retro Ford International. They are the same for all years I think. But try Ralph first, he might have them.
